Projects for miners
On the mountain "Cerro Rico" near the city Potosí where dozens of mines reside, is no water supply and hardly any electricity. Each week a mine requires about 2000 liter of water as drinking water, to spray when the concentration of arsenicum is too high in the mine galleries and for use for the pneumatic hammers (if available).
Once a month water is supplied by tanker and stored in canisters or lorries. In 1996 we started building a concrete water tank for the storage of this drinking water. A total of 7 water tanks (10,000 to 15,000 liter) is available now where hundreds of miners fill their bottles with water before entering the mines. And after return they can wash and rinse themselves.
