3rd project visit: sanitary project primary school Caiza D
HURRAY, we can (finally) finish, the signatures are being printed as we speak. It was a long way to go. In several ways... I am happy to finally finish up this file and tell both funds (Rabo Shar4more and ETWA) that the transfer has happened.
For those interested: the story behind Caiza D, our headache-inducing file
We never experienced so many setbacks during a project. The most important: the toilet building for the primary school is finished and working properly. It took a lot of trouble and many efforts (mainly Enrique’s, who took over the project from another volunteer who had to give up on the project) but is has been finished and we are still well within our budget! All the praise goes to Enrique, who has managed to end this project well.
Today, we sign the transfer contract and celebrate this success. At 19:45, we get into the jeep. Luckily Juan Carlos is no longer afraid of the jeep and surrounded by large dust clouds, he drives us back to 4090 m.... A benefit of the darkness is that we can see the holes in the ground but not the gaping ravine at our side. Around 21.00 I get “home” to hotel Eucalyptus with a cosy gathering of mine guides and I have a very special meeting... We make an appointment for Saturday because I, exhausted, really have to get to bed. Incredibly tired I get in the shower at 22.00 to get rid of the dust and confetti. Tomorrow (10/10) is yet another important day: finishing the computer and internet project Pichincha! Still have to write my speech....
